About us
Our Story
In 2005, Pam and George Lee and a group of like-minded homeschooling families founded Austin Royals Christian Athletics. Their vision was to create more than just a competitive sports program—they dreamed of building a discipleship community for homeschool student-athletes, rooted in Christ and committed to excellence.
Even after her daughters graduated from homeschooling and the Royals Varsity Girls Basketball team, Pam continued to lead and serve. Her dedication endured through every season, even when she faced a battle with breast cancer. As Pam transitioned leadership responsibilities to the Royals Board, her heart for discipleship remained the driving force behind the organization’s mission.
Today, the Austin Royals stand strong on the foundation Pam laid—serving homeschool families with a Christ-centered approach to athletics, character-building, and leadership development.
What’s in a Name?
When choosing a name for this new venture, Pam Lee prayed for inspiration from God's Word. Her prayers led her to 1 Peter 2:9:
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light."
Inspired by this verse, the name "Royals" was chosen to reflect our identity in Christ.
We are chosen, treasured, set apart for God’s purposes—children of the King of Kings. We are the Austin Royals.
Who We Are
Austin Royals Christian Athletics is a community of homeschool families in the greater Austin, Texas area.
We offer competitive sports programs for elementary through high school students, always centered around our core purpose:
to help students become obedient followers of Jesus Christ who love God above all else and encourage others to do the same.
This is the reason you will see 1 Peter 2:9 on every Royals uniform and on our logo so we never forget our true identity!
Just as Pam did in the beginning, we never want to forget WHO we are and most importantly WHOSE we are…children of the King of kings, Jesus Christ.
What We Do
With a spirit of excellence, we train Christian, homeschool student-athletes to compete at a high level, not only physically but spiritually.
We prepare athletes to perform at their best on the field, while equipping their minds and hearts to follow Christ and to make Him known boldly.
